| Arch Bridge ![]() Dubai is building the first and the world’s biggest and the tallest arch bridge. The construction will be starting from March 2008, and is expected to be completed by 2012. Some random statistics I’ve been able to find are: It’s one mile long and 670 feet tall. It will have 12 lanes for traffic. It will cost 817 million dollars. The design has Sheikh Mohammed’s official stamp of approval. The bridge will carry more than 2,000 vehicles per hour in each direction. A metro line will run across the middle. Construction begins in March, with a slated completion date of 2012.

| Dubai Fountains ![]() The biggest one in the world, in fact, and it will be large enough to give the famed fountains at the Bellagio in Las Vegas an inferiority complex. At 825 feet long, the unnamed fountain will be 25% larger than the Bellagio fountain. Powering the fountain will be pumps capable of shooting columns of water pproximately 450 or so feet into the dry Middle Eastern air. A light and sound show produced by a network of 6,600 lights and 50 projectors will illuminate the burgeoning Dubai skyline at night. About 22,000 gallons of water are expected to cycle through the fountain at any given time when it is completed in 2009.

| Dubai Opus ![]() The Opus will appear to hover from the ground. Constructed of three separate towers the building will appear as a singular unified whole, with a distinctive void. The interiors of which will be clad with a fully engineered curved glass curtain wall to allow for eye-catching views into the void. Reflexive fretting patterns in the form of pixilated striations will be applied onto the glass facade to provide a degree of reflectivity and materiality to the cube while assisting in the reduction of solar gains inside the building. Within the Opus there will be a retail podium across the ground, first and second floor. The uppermost floor will feature a tranquility zone, a beach deck with a reflective pool and shaded roof terrace a media zone and a gym. The building boasts an AAA-class rating and has 87 per cent space efficiency.
